
A) Candidates
- We request candidates to complete an application and summit a CV, that gives the following information:
- Personal details (address, age, telephone number, nationality, availability);
- Experience and qualifications and employment history relevant to the post;
- Job preferences (e.g. age of children, hours, live in/out).
- We check the identity of candidate by viewing a Passport and a least one other form of ID.
- We request and verify reasons for gaps in employment history.
- We inspect relevant original certificate(s) of qualification. In the absence of original certificates we will check the candidate's qualifications with the relevant awarding body or college.
- We interview all candidates in person before submission to the family. If there are exceptional circumstances and no personal interview has taken place, we will inform the family.
- We check that candidates have at least two references to confirm a candidate's competence and suitability for the position.
- We produce a CV on our format which sets out an Agency CV with all relevant information gained from the candidate’s CV, their application form, as well as the agency interview.
- Procedures 1to 7 are completed before a candidate's details are presented to a family or an interview arranged.
- Once the family has shown an interest in a candidate, we contacted their referees first by letter and then phone. If we have not spoken to the referee directly we will inform the family. Open references or testimonials are not accepted without verification.
B) Family
- We request the family to complete a questionnaire that gives the following information:
- Personal details (e.g. address, ages of the children);
- Skills and qualifications needed from the candidate;
- Preferred personal skills of the candidate (e.g. swimmer, driver, fluent in Spanish).
- We clarify and expand the information on questionnaire with the family by phone or interview, to make sure that we only put forward suitable candidates.
- We offer a model contract with personalised duties and employment terms agreed between the family and the carer.
C) General
- Both the family and candidate are made fully aware of the agency procedures.
- We only put forward candidates for positions for which they appear to be suited to the specific requirements of the family by their qualifications, experience and personality.
- We provide full and relevant information to both the prospective candidate and family about one another before an interview.
- We respect the confidentiality of both the family and candidates.
- We do not attempt to influence a family's or candidate's decision by offering misleading information.
- We only advertise genuine vacancies, at the salary quoted by the family.
- We provide our service free to job-seekers, whether the post is in the UK or overseas.
